Peter Facinelli is pacing his Daughter with the Twilight Saga

For all the mama’s out there!  Peter Facinelli recently did an interview with E! Online’s Marc Malkin wherein he and his wife Jennie Garth talk about which books from the Twilight Saga they’ve let their oldest daughter read and his opinion on making Breaking Dawn into two movies.

“It’s a very thick book. I think that two movies would be a good thing for the franchise. I support it, but ultimately it’s up to what Summit decides,” Peter chatted, though he seemed to pick his words very carefully.

“I’m having a great time with the franchise, so if we get to do two more that would be fun.”

“The battle in Eclipse was superfun. We got to do a lot of fight training and choreography, and I’m looking forward to the fans seeing that. They get to see the Cullens in a way they’ve never seen them before,” the star mysterious teased.

Peter was proud to boast of his stunt work too, claiming, “I tried to do as much as I could, or as much as they allowed me to do. If I didn’t go home with a bruise, I didn’t feel like I put in a good day’s work.”

I must confess, I’m with him on this one.  At least for me, as the books get darker and slightly more adult themed, making the decision on whether your teen is mature enough to handle the content is a challenge for every parent; especially knowing that these books, this story and the movies are everywhere!!!

Chris Weitz will Not be Directing Breaking Dawn

Categories: breaking dawn, chris weitz, interviews

I’m sad to report that Chris Weitz has made a decision and has shared it with the world.  I will admit that I think New Moon is beautifully directed and edited.  I think Chris Weitz would have been the perfect choice to direct Breaking Dawn.  He has the connection between the “Tri-fecta” down to a science and he has the experience needed for the special effects that are going to be required.  I know he isn’t the only one, but I’ll just say I’m feelin’ a little down about this news :(

E! Online reports:

Chriz Weitz may not be directing Breaking Dawn, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t think about it.

“Of course when I was making New Moon and it was doing well, it was natural to think about doing other films in the series. But I haven’t been pressured in any extreme way or anything,” Weitz tells us, adding, “I think it’s time for someone else to step up and do it, just because the third film was done by somebody else.”

That’s not all Weitz had to say. Read on to find out what he thinks about the Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart romance, splitting Breaking Dawn into two flicks and who he thinks should direct the rest of the series…

What do you think of Breaking Dawn being broken into two parts?
The book is very dense, so it’s appropriate that it’s broken into two parts. And I think that even though Twilight fans kind of want to have as much as they can at any one given time, I think they would be sad if it ended too abruptly.

What do you think of the idea of the violence and sex from the book being played out on screen?
A lot of it takes place offstage, offscreen, so I’m not sure if the sexuality presents a tremendous problem. The violence and the gore…I don’t think those are a particular problem either, because the MPA that sets the rating for it doesn’t have a huge problem with the violence for some odd reason.

Who do you think should direct the films?
I love Martin Scorsese, I love Wes Anderson, I love Michael Winterbottom. I’m not sure any of them would feel like this is their next best step, to direct a film in the Twilight series.

Is the obsession over Rob and Kristen’s possible romance ever going to end?
They’re both so appealing and attractive, and it’s very fun to think about them being together. But myself, I’ve always tried to maintain plausible deniability by knowing as little as humanly possibly as I could about what is happening, and I will continue to do so.

Do you have any advice for them?
The pressure they’re under and the amount of scrutiny they’re under is nothing that I’ve ever had to face. If I ever have that many people that interested in what I’m doing, I’ll call Rob and Kristen and ask them what I should do.

What are your thoughts and feelings?  Who would you like to see direct Breaking Dawn (and possibly Breaking Dawn 2)?

Stephenie Meyer Posts the truth behind the Breaking Dawn Rumors

Yesterday in the Twitterverse I came across a link from E! Online about how Stephenie Meyer is the one who is taking so long on making a decision for Breaking Dawn, stated Ted Casablanca from E!:

Deep Twi tells us there is no director set yet for Breaking Dawn because no one can decide on whether it’s going to be one movie or two.

It seems that series mastermind Stephenie Meyer and Summit have slightly different agendas on that one…

“Stephenie is calling the shots,” our mole tells us, “and she still can’t decide whether or not [making two movies] is the right thing to do creatively.”

On the heels of that story, Stephenie has posted the following on her website regarding the story:

Just a quick note on the subject of the Breaking Dawn film: there is no drama over whether the book should be one movie or two. My personal feeling is that it would be very difficult to cram the whole story into one movie (as I’ve said in many interviews previous to this), but if a great way of doing that surfaces, I’m all for it. Two or one, whichever way fits the story best is fine by me, and everyone I’ve spoken with at Summit seems to feel the same way. We’re all excited to move forward on this, and we are slowly and surely getting there. I know people are anxious for news, and so sometimes gossip gets fabricated to stir things up, but there’s no basis to this particular story.

Steph

Please consider the rumor quashed.  I’m sure that Summit, Stephenie et al are very aware of the desires of the fans to see the last book made into a movie.  That seems to be their intentions.  It just turns out that nobody is positive how to make it the best it can be.  I guess we all need to continue to be patient and trust that in the end, they’ll make a decision, together, that will be pleasing to all involved (including us!!!)

Stephenie Meyer Vindicated: Lawsuit Dismissed!

Twilight Lexicon has posted the following information regarding a plagiarism suit that was brought against Stephenie Meyer and Breaking Dawn.  The Lexicon had previously done some research on it and you can read about that HERE.  Below is a summary of the judgement dismissing the suit.  GREAT news for SM!!

stephenie-meyer1

“The Honorable Otis D. Wright II of the United States District Court has ruled in favor of Stephenie Meyer and Hachette Book Group and has dismissed with prejudice Jordan Scott’s claim of copyright infringement.

In his ruling, Judge Wright stated that the two works have little in common and that the “characters in the two works are vastly different.” The decision admonishes Scott for “the deceptive presentation of the alleged similarities” and notes that she “has twice manipulated aspects of the subject works in order to create the appearance of similarity.”

While an attempt to ride on someone else’s success may not be surprising, it is encouraging that the courts and the public are not so easily misled.

This judgment confirms what we have known all along – Breaking Dawn is a wholly original work by Stephenie Meyer and this was a frivolous lawsuit brought for the purposes of publicizing the plaintiff’s personal publishing aspirations.  Hachette Book Group and Stephenie Meyer are pleased to be able to put this case behind us.”

Poor Stephenie.  She wanted to spend this year with her family and has still been saddled with things like this!  I’m so happy this is behind her!

All the buzz right now is whether or not Breaking Dawn is a-go…

While nothing has been officially confirmed, producer Wyck Godfrey mentioned that November 21 the entire process would begin for Breaking Dawn negotiations. It’s no surprise that the movie(s) are inevitable, but it’s nice to hear it from the source:
