Do you know how real life is more important than Twilight…wait…what? Yes, it is true, I have a family and a real life. I’ve been on a New Moon high the last 3 days and I’ve been unable to unleash my excitement because I’ve spent the last three days with my wonderful family completely away from my comptuer. At last, it is now time for me to share with you my thoughts and experiences about the movie we’ve all anticipated for several months now! My post started out as a 2 page Word document, but now that I’ve had a chance to come down from my high, I think I can express my excitement with fewer words! New Moon was more than a movie night for me. When all was said and done, there were 17 in our group and we enjoyed a fantastic girl’s night out. Dinner in our line, sitting on our camping chairs and then 9:00 rolled around and nine of us escaped to the Twilight showing. I had never seen it on the big screen! I was a late bloomer to the Twilight world, not entering it until March of this year, so that was awesome for me! The front of our line showed up at 1:30pm in the afternoon and when I went to look and see who it was that had achieved “front of the line” status I discovered that it was a group of young women from my church! Say “cheese” ladies!
And how nice of their mother’s to come and play chaperone on a school night! In the other line I discovered that the front group had gotten there at 10:30am!
Check out all the “smart boys” (as my mother called them) coming to see New Moon with all the cute girls! Our girl’s night out consisted of good friends, good laughs and LOTS of Twilight talk! Some of my favorite people came to watch with me!
There were A LOT of people in their Twilight/New Moon shirts. Some store bought, some homemade and all looking fabulous. There was ONE girl dressed up like Rosalie in a Forks High School Softball uniform…she looked SUPER cute but she walked by too quickly for me to get a picture Then there was the moment of truth…concession lines were backed up to the door, the line to the women’s bathroom wrapped back through the hallways of the theater but everyone was friendly and kind through all the chaos!
Our theater held 450 people and it was one of two large auditoriums that were sold out here. In addition to that, 6 other regular theaters were sold out…it was awesome madness. Our huge theater an HOUR before it started…
…by the time the movie started, everyone was in their seats. It was surreal! So have you seen New Moon? Seeing as how it’s Sunday night and it’s now been open for three days, I’m going to make the very safe assumption that any true Twilight fan has viewed the awesomeness that was New Moon. So be aware, if you’ve yet to partake in the squeal worthy sequal to Twilight, trudge forward at your own risk! So should I start with the good or the bad? Ok, the bad, because the list is SUPER short. #1 – Srsly? Frolicking in the forest? Even in Edward’s most romantic moment I can’t imagine him throwing on white clothes and “frolicking” in the forest with Bella. Changing her into a vampire and taking her hunting and finding her “Hot” would make more sense. But frolicking? Really? The whole movie theater laughed, including me. Like in a comedic way. In an uncomfortable way. May I just ask whose idea that was? I’ve justified it to myself by saying, “Alice was just showing Aro what she wanted him to see” Please let it be. #2 I’m TOTALLY Team Edward, but I will say that I almost expected MORE wolf pack than I actually got. At least together. Lots of gooood Jacob stuff. Lots.Good.Jacob but I actually could have swallowed a little more wolf pack. I’m kind of torn on this because I also liked the dosage of Edward that we got in the beginning and the end, so as much as I would have enjoyed a little more of the wolf pack, I will say that I wouldn’t sacrafice the amount of Edward that we got as a trade. So…what do you think?? Those are really my only complaints…so here are my top ten favorite moments of New Moon (at least upon only one viewing thus far…I plan a trip to the matinee this week!) 10. Bella’s dream. They opened with Bella’s dream!!! I loved it. Perfection. And Edward’s “sparkle” was beautiful and I don’t mean in the sense that it’s beautiful that vampires sparkle; I mean beautiful in that someone really did a fantastic job on the special effect because it was gorgeous! 9. Carlisle fixing up Bella. PFach does a superb job at extending the kindness and compassion to Bella that Carlisle exudes in the book. He makes Bella understand Edward’s reservations about changing her, which is so pivotal to the story. Bella now understands that it’s not about trying to convince Edward to change her; its about trying to get him to believe that he won’t be taking her soul when he does. 8. “So you’re the Vampire girl?” “And you’re the wolf girl.” Srsly, two of my favorite lines in all of New Moon. I know, there are so many good ones, but this exchange between Emily and Bella makes me smile everytime I read it. 7. The Wolves. wow. I mean it. The wolves were a-maz-ing. Chris Weitz’ special effects team did the most incredible job on the wolves. So much so that when Jacob was a wolf at the end and Bella asked him not to make her choose, because she will choose Edward, the pained look on the wolf’s face actually choked me up…like actual tears. My heart actually broke for Jacob…first.time.ever. 6. The Volturi. Perfection. Every one of them played their part exactly as I pictured it when I read them. Did you hear that evil laugh from Aro? I mean, was that not CREEPY to the best of all creepiness? They NAILED it. And I loved the fight scene, it was beautiful and Edward being so protective, knowing that at any minute he could die. I know the fight scene wasn’t in the book…but I didn’t care. It was fabulous. 5. Charlie. I could almost just leave it at his name and I’m fairly sure that you could come up with your own top ten list of best “Charlie” moments. But he was so much the father. He was FUNNY…funnier than in Twilight…and I thought he was pretty funny in Twilight 4. Bella’s cliff dive. One moment of exhiliration taken away in the next moment as the waters start to crash into her and it becomes intense and scary. Almost to the point that even though you know what is going to happen, for a split second, she may actually die. Then there’s Jacob’s arm, just before Victoria can get to her. GAH! 3. Flirty, Romantic Edward. In Twilight, because they had to move it along so quickly the only Edward we really see is so brooding and serious. But in New Moon we got an Edward who is flirty, romantic and is amused by Bella as he is in the books. This was the Edward I envisioned as I read the books. He is always smirking at Bella; always thinking about how much he can’t live without her and he is truly portrayed this way by Rob in New Moon. Like to a point that I had butterflies in my stomach several times as I watched him interact with her. My favorite flirty Edward part? In her room, after their return from Italy. She’s having a dream and wakes suddenly to find him sitting on her bed, holding her hand. He reassures her that he is there, she can sleep. Charlie comes and Edward escapes behind the door. After Charlie leaves and Edward says “I’m technically not breaking any rules, he said I couldn’t step a foot inside the door, I came in through the window.” hehe Then he pleads for Bella’s forgiveness for his stupidity in leaving. He is forgiven with a kiss…Oh my goodness…there’s those butterflies again. 2. The Reunion. Heaven. As Edward put it. Um, am I the only that could sit and listen forever to Edward explain to Bella that he loves her, why he loves her, how he can’t live without her? I can’t be the only one but I think I could have rewound that scene about 10 times to catch all the romantical words Edward said to Bella. Does Bella finally understand his love for her? I understand she thinks they’re out of balance, but does she finally understand? Of course not…it wouldn’t be Twilight if she did. and my #1 favorite moment of New Moon…drumroll… “Marry Me”…fade to black Ok, count me in with the 13 year olds squealing through the entire theater and quickly clapping their hands at the first of the marriage proposals. So what are your top ten favorite moments? Least favorite? Let’s share and discuss, because I’m “Over the Moon” for New Moon!!! |
